Training the next generation of
successful social entrepreneurs

Introduction

Human Rights & Science (HR&S) recognises researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs in lower-income countries who present amazing social business ideas and supports them. Our main aim is to implement locally developed and locally adapted solutions. We start and scale up local enterprises that address the needs of the local people.

HR&S social entrepreneurship training brings together scientific researchers, innovators and social entrepreneurs from Sub-Saharan Africa for lectures and discussions with an aim of providing opportunities for them to bring positive change and development. We offer a transformational training package designed to inspire social entrepreneurs to become innovative change makers. Participants develop creative capacity and acquire necessary skills to build scalable start-ups that solve real problems.

HR&S trainings are instructor led and delivered by using a blended learning approach. It combines presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned experts with years of experience, working as professionals and trainers in these fields.

Structure

HR&S trainings are stuctured around evaluation planning. Evaluation planning describes how we monitor and evaluate the way we address our activites, as well as how we intend to use evaluation results for activity improvement and decision making.  HR&S benefits from our own “Real-time Outcome Planning & Evaluation” tool (ROPE) and the training sessions are structured around the ROPE Strategy for Change template. It is obvious from the above that ROPE is an iterative process and that the Strategy for Change is continiously revised, as a result of lessons learned. 

The target is each participant’s own career and working ambitions.

Output

  1. One Output from the trainings are a ROPE Strategy for Change sheet. The SfC sheet supports the development work of the participants directly after the training is completed.
  2. Upon successful completion of the training and exam or individual presentation, participants will be issued with a certificate.

Annual training package

Our training package starts with a serie of seminars and proceeds with a serie of workshops. The package targets anyone who are eligible and are interested in attending.

Seminar serie

The seminar serie starts with an introduction at an HR&S RISE Centre, continues with five bi-monthly 1,5 hour online seminars from HR&S Sweden and ends with an exam at the RISE Centre.  If the student passes the exam,  she/he is accredited with a certificate.

Workshop serie

Attendees with HR&S Certificates and a registered company are welcome to attend a workshop. Here, the participant’s own material will be in focus. The workshop starts with an introduction at an HR&S RISE Centre, continues with five bi-monthly 1,5 hour online workshop sessions from HR&S Sweden and ends with a presentation session at the RISE Centre. The workshop sessions take place online or at the RISE Centre with HR&S Sweden being on-site or online.  Each participant prepares a presentation to share during the last session. Good presentations are rewarded with certificates.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be issued with a certificate.

Attendance

Delegates should be proficient in English.
Each course attracts 20 participants.

Eligibility

  • Seminar serie: Social entrepreneurs that have an agency for change. Supporters of social entrepreneurs.
  • Workshop: Social entrepreneurs with HR&S mini-course certificate and a registered company.

Date & venue

Each seminar & workshop serie is repeated every a year. The events take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays  at 2 pm Swedish time (Burkina Faso, Togo, Monrovia : 1 pm; Nigeria : 2pm; Kenya, Uganda : 4 pm).

April : Social enterprising seminars.
May : Social enterprising workshops.

Price & payment

  • The fee for attending a mini-course is Euro 10.
  • The fee for attending a workshop is Euro 10.

tailor-made Trainings

Our trainings are structured around on-line webinars managed from HR&S Sweden.

Our tailor-made trainings are designed according to the request by the customer. Among the different options are:

  1. The training can be in the format of seminars, or workshops or both.
  2. It may start  with an introduction at an HR&S RISE Centre and end with presentation by each participant at the HR&S RISE Centres, or one of these options or none.
  3. It can contain a certain amount of information combined with a test, and then generate a certificate for the participansts that manage the requirements.
  4. It can be held condenced during one week, or be spread out over a period of maximum three months.
  5. The number of webinars can range between five up to twenty. Each shall be one, two, three or four hours. Participants receives homework to be addresses in-between the online sessions

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be issued with a certificate.

Price & payment

The cost for one series of tailor-made training is agreed on from case to case.
A supporting institution in Africa pays on average Euro 2,000 for 10 hours of training, and a supportive institution in Europe / USA pays in average Euro 5,000. 
Each participant pays on average Euro 10 for 10 hours of training.
